- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for one each 7W Two-Stage Fiber Amplifier (p/n KPS-BT2-PFA-C-39-FA) optimized for pulsed input signal at 1572nm. Benchtop version with microprocessor control managing, APC or ACC mode, alarms and status indicators. Minimum specifications to include: 1) wavelength of operation: 1572 +/-2nm; 2) CW output power: 7W (10W best effort); output energy per pulse will be greater than 10UJ; peak power with pulses less than 100ns for pulse repetition frequencies (PRF) from 100 hz to 70 khz; input and mid-stage isolators (30db); 2m long output pigtail with fc/apc connector and output collimator; GPIB interface; size: 19" rack-mount; the fiber amplifier will be located in an OEM module (230 x 180 x 52nm) and can be removed from its bench-top housing. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Keopsys, Inc. Hmapton, NJ. Space Lidar missions require a single-frequency laser injected (<1mhz linewidth) high peak power (>100W with 100ns pulses while providing >7W average power) erbium-doped fiber amplifier. Keopsys, Inc. is the only source for the high peak power (>100W) erbium large-mode-diameter fiber amplifiers. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on April 15, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
