Description
THIS IS A NOTICE FOR GSA SCHEDULE HOLDERS ONLY. SCOPE: The United States Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA) requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to perform a variety of tasks associated with the SAA anti-virus update service using Symantec?s automated signature update service and associated infrastructure. The SME shall become a point of contact for SAA issues and security events involving malicious code (viruses, worms. etc.) BACKGROUND: The Senate community increasingly relies on a variety of communication mechanisms to carry out core business processes. One of the most heavily used means is electronic mail (e-mail). The SAA manages technical anti-virus controls in a coordinated manner and the SME will be instrumental in this effort. This SME will coordinate these efforts on a full-time basis for the SAA to effectively manage the on-going security issue of e-mail viruses in the Senate community. This position will perform the following: 1) ensure current AV (anti-virus) systems are working effectively; 2) ensure that SAA shared servers are effectively protected; 3) collate and distribute of reports from these systems; 4) monitor external sources for new attacks, and 5) analyze existing controls to determine if these controls will adequately counter new threats. The SME will also have operational responsibility for ensuring that components of the NAV update service are working properly. Although the SME may not actually manage any or all of the current anti-virus systems, the individual will ensure that these systems are working together to effectively meet the changing treats from e-mail viruses/worms. The SME person will be a key primary contact for the SAA Help Desk, CSA?s, and other stakeholders and will become the ?go to? person for virus/worm questions. REQUIREMENTS: 1) The Contractor must be a GSA Schedule holder, 2) The Contractor must represent and warrant that it is an authorized Symantec certified vendor, and 3) The SME must have a Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE) certification. The solicitation will be issued March 26, 2003 with proposals due April 14, 2003, 1:00 pm EST. Only GSA schedule holders will be eligible to receive the solicitation and submit proposals. Contractor's wishing to receive the solicitation should send an email to: Acquisitions@saa.senate.gov and must provide the following information: 1) Company Name: Address: Point of Contact Telephone Number E-mail address: GSA Schedule Number. The subject line of the email message should be Symantec SME 2003-R-025. Telephone requests will not be honored. The Senate will not be responsible for any costs in the preparation of responses to this announcement. The solicitation will be issued electronically. Requests for hard copies of the solicitation will not be honored. Requests received from other than GSA schedule holders will be deemed unacceptable and will not be considered.
