- NASA/SSC plans to issue a sole source, firm fixed price contract to Vexcel Corporation for an automated roll firm unit, Vexcel Corp. model no. A3065 and mounting aid for single images. The items being procured are add-ons to an existing Vexcel scanner and must be compatible with this existing equipment. This is a sole source commercial item acquisition under FAR Parts 6.301-1 and 12. The Government believes only one responsible source can provide the services that will satisfy the Agency's requirements. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for competitive quotes. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. on April 4, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. This acquisition is 100% set-a-side for small business. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 333315 and 500 employees, respectively. The DPAS rating for this procurment is DO-C9. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
