- Medical Supplies - Potential Sources Sought Military Hospitals - (Army, Navy, Air Force) TRICARE Regions 9, 10 and 12 Sterilization Indicators & Controls - Standardization _____________________________________________________________________________ Point of Contact: Cindy Ingrao, Clinical Consultant, Tri-Service Regional Business Office, TRICARE Regions 9 & 10, San Diego, CA 92134. Telephone: (619) 532-8517. Potential sources sought to participate in the regional standardization of Sterilization Indicators & Controls. TRICARE Regions 9, 10, and 12, a military integrated delivery network (IDN), comprised of Army, Navy and Air Force medical treatment centers in California, Hawaii, Japan, Okinawa, Republic of Korea, and Guam are in the process of standardizing Sterilization Indicators & Controls. If your company currently holds or in the process of obtaining a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) with the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia (DSCP) for Sterilization Indicators & Controls, your company is eligible to participate in the standardization process. Please respond by Email: cingrao@reg9.med.navy.mil and provide your company name, address, point of contact, telephone, fax and E-mail address and answers to the below listed questions no later than March 14, 2003. For questions, please call (619) 532-8517. 1. Does your company have an existing DAPA number? If yes, what is it? 2. Does your company have chemical indicators? If so, what types (tapes/strips/labels/cards) of chemical indicators does your company provide? Does your company provide needed dispensers free of charge? 3. Are your sterilization indicators made with non-fast dyes, non-toxic, non-flammable ingredients? 4. Are your indicators latex and heavy metal free? 5. Does your company have biological indicators (controls)? If so, what types of sterilization methods could they be used for? Does your company provide the incubators for free? 6. Do your biological indicators have a chemical indicator on the outside to verify exposure to sterilant? 7. Does your company have rapid read biological indicators? If so, what sterilization methods could they be used for and what is/are the read times? 8. Does your company have a ?Bowie Dick? type test pack for pre-vacuum cycle testing? 9. Does your company have a chemical integrator that indicates the amount of sterilant exposure time in intervals of time as opposed to changing only from light to dark? What is the length of time needed to get results for gravity vs. pre-vacuum steam sterilization? 10. How is exposure to sterilant identified with the use of your chemical indicators and biological controls? 11. Are your sterilization indicators and controls water-resistant? 12. Can your chemical indicators be easily torn before exposure to the sterilization process? 13. Do your chemical indicators resist tearing after exposure to the sterilization process? 14. Do your indicators and controls resist external chemical changes? 15. What is the shelf-life of your chemical indicators and controls? 16. What is the shelf-life of your biological indicator? 17. What brands of sterilization controls & indicators does your company manufacture or distribute? 18. What types of educational tools or materials do you have for this product line? 19. Is there any history of backorders and/or recalls for this product group? If yes, please answer: a. Dates and duration b. Cause c.
