- Description
- NA The U.S. Army is sponsoring a Technology Readiness Evaluation (TRE-2) for automatic, light weight, networked and non-networked biological point detection technologies, which consist of biological triggers and collectors. TRE-2 is scheduled in the Septembe r to October time frame at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah. Test duration will not exceed 4 weeks. TRE-2 will consist of two phases ? a breeze tunnel test (1 week) and a field test (3 weeks). Equipment must arrive one week prior to test start. Participating d evices will be assessed for potential applicability in future biological defense systems such as the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS). The ultimate goal is a biological point detector (trigger) with warning, collection and networking cap abilities. Multiple systems sufficient to demonstrate a network capability are desired for the field test but not required. TRE-2 will be determining a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) with respect to the JBTDS program. Devices may be evaluated for thei r function in areas such as detection of biological simulants, discrimination (interference rejection), and networking. Although the intent of TRE-2 is to identify appropriate technology for our development/acquisition programs and system-upgrades, the Army is under no obligation to select any participating technologies. TRE-2 will offer participants an opportunity to obtain unique performance data that can be used in their development work. To be responsive to this announcement and receive a copy of the entrance criteria package, developers/sponsors must supply the following in writing to U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command 5183 Blackhawk Road ATTN: AMSSB-RRT-DE Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010, no later than close of business 30 April 2003: A description of their device including capabilities, technology employed, and physical characteristics; all relevant test reports; a historical synopsis of the development; a photograph of the device, safety precautions and the number of devices t o be evaluated. If there are questions call: Dan Nowak at 410-436-5631.
