- Description
- The US Army TACOM-ARDEC, Program Manager for Future Combat System ? Lethality and the Program Manager for Maneuever Ammunition Systems, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking sources of a mature (in production) or near mature (in development with production planned by Sep 03) remote controlled/operated and remotely directed medium caliber machine gun weapon system. The weapon system will include a medium caliber cannon, mount, drives, turret, fire control and ammo feed system. The weapon system is intended for integration onto vehicles (host platform) of the 16-20 ton range. The weapon system must meet the following minimum requirements: (1) Receive commands to direct the weapon to any point within a 180 degree radius and fire within 5 seconds. (2) Operate 360 degree in azimuth coverage, -20 degrees in depression and 60 degrees in elevation from the horizontal plane, (3) Provide stabilized fire while host platform is moving, (4) Operate the system from the protection of the host platform, (5) Control the operation, including firing, of a medium caliber weapon, (6) Interface with other weapon sensors (e.g. Radar, Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), Optical Sighting Systems, Global Positioning System (GPS), video auto trackers, laser rangefinders, etc). (7) Support or contain a data link for transmission of data (e.g. fuze setting) between the fire control system and the ammunition. The weapon system must also meet all US military operational safety requirements. Weight, height and size of the weapon system and ammunition, lethality of the ammunition, ready round capacity, ballistic protection, add on armor capability, sight type, power requirements and consumption are significant parameters of interest. Firms/companies are invited to indicate their interest by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and other technical data as well as identification of current customers and rough order magnitude pricing for 2, 10 and 50 medium caliber machine gun weapon systems, if available and at no cost to the US Government, within 21 days of this announcement to US Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: Mel Downes, AMSTA-AR-QAA, Bldg. 62, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000, email: downes@pica.army.mil.
