Description
FISC Norfolk Naval Shipyard Annex intends to procure services necessary to disassemble two (2)each Government owned locomotive truck assemblies, inspect and refurbish to like new condition. The service shall include: 1) Replacement of the eight (8) wheels and eight (8) axle bearings; 2) Polishing of all support fits; 3) Cleaning and inspection of the drive and pinion gears; 4) Replacement of drive motor bearings if existing bearings are out of tolerance; 5) Re-lubrication of gears and pinion with Crater X or equal; 6) Re-lubrication of motor bearings with STP; 6) Verification of all operating clearances with written reports; 7) Re-assembly. A written inspection report shall be submitted to NNSY outlining any other deficiencies found with the unit(s). Information relative to existing equipment: Wheels are 38 inches, BX-38 narrow flange, multi-ware rolled steel, wheel inside gauge is 53.25 inches +/- .25 inches (flange back to back), bearings are Timkin AP, Class E ( 6 x 11), Traction motors are GE model GHM-833, gear ratio 7.96-1, truck weight is approx. 32,000 lbs per truck assembly. Two total truck assemblies per locomotive. All repair/replacement parts used in the performance of the service shall be new and shall have the same quality assurance provisions as those used by the original equipment manufacturer. The associated NAICS is 333651 with a size standard of 1000 employees. This procurement will be awarded utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures set-forth in FAR Part 12. Delivery shall be FOB destination to Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA 23709-5000. If necessary, NNSY will arrange for transportation of the units to the contractor's facility. The solicitation number for this requirement is N00181-03-Q-0124. Closing date for receipt of offers is established as 10 Mar 2003, 4:00 PM Local Time.
