- Description
- Purchase of tube steel sections for frame type gloveboxes to be used at the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF). The option to purchase will be exercised through a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) by glovebox fabricators contracted to MFFF. The tube steel Supplier/Subcontractor shall fabricate the tube steel in accordance with the requirements delineated in this specification, and comply with all applicable codes, standards and regulations. Stainless Steel Seamless stainless steel square and rectangular structural tubing shall be ASTM A-511, type MT 304 or MT 304L, annealed, cold worked. Seam welded stainless steel square and rectangular structural tubing conforming to ASTM A-554 type MT 304 or MT 304L, welded and annealed with the weld bead removed, may be used provided that it is 100% dye penetrant inspected along weld seams to locate pits and defects in accordance with ASTM E-165. (TBV) All austenitic stainless steel shall be furnished in the solution-annealed condition. Unstabilized grades of austenitic stainless steel which are cooled from the solution annealing temperature to below 425?C (800?F) by any means other than water quenching shall meet the requirements of ASTM A-262, Practice A Figure 1 or 2, or Practice E. Test specimens shall be selected from the material that represents each heat treatment practice and each heat. The use of compounds that contain halides on stainless steel surfaces is prohibited, including tapes containing more than 100 ppm leachable chlorides. Stainless steel materials shall not be painted or finish coated. Carbon Steel Carbon steel square and rectangular structural tubing shall either be cold formed, furnished in accordance with ASTM A-500 Grade B, or hot formed, furnished in accordance with ASTM A-501. Carbon steel shall be supplied un-coated. Painting and coating of the glovebox frames will be by the Process Equipment Fabricator. Vendors are requested to visit the DCS MOX website to download the required forms. Potential Suppliers will need to download and send to DCS the following forms: Proprietary Agreement, Appendix I and Appendix II. The DCS website is www.dcsmox.com.
