Description
This is a restricted eligibility. To apply for this financial assistance Program, applicants shall be the following: 1) individuals that are U.S. citizens, either native-born or naturalized; 2) small businesses (as defined by the Small Business Administration) that are incorporated and operating in the U.S. and that conduct at least 50% of the effort; or 3) institutions of higher learning located in the U.S. ? eligible for category 1 only. Individual inventors and very small businesses (15 or fewer employees) are especially encouraged to participate. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Golden Field Office (GO), is seeking applications for the I&I Program which funds energy-saving technologies in the conceptual (category 1) and developmental (category 2) stages, as defined in the document ?Stages of Development,? at Stages of Development only. To be considered for a category 2 award, a bench-scale model and/or other preliminary investigations must be complete, specifically related to the overall Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) industry, transportation, buildings, or power topics. I&I grants range up to $75,000 for category 1 and up to $250,000 for category 2 and are subject to availability of funds and first-year performance. Each award may cover a project period of up to one year for category 1 and up to two years for category 2. Category 2 awards will be incrementally funded at 50% of the grant total the first year, and additional funding will be based on performance. Total funding available for award is estimated to be $1,200,000. Please note that the I&I Program is only using the Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) to accept applications for this solicitation.
