- NA Please note that this is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE. The New Orleans District of the Corps of Engineers seeks firms Certified as a HUB-Zone with the capabilities (Personnel & Equipment) to perform the following: Enlargement and Floodwalls work consist of cl osing existing gaps along the East Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee, items E69 and E73 floodwall by placement of embankment or driving new steel sheet pile to required design grade elevation on the existing below grade levee between the sheet pile floodw all reaches. In addition landside and floodside stability berms will be constructed in certain reaches of earthen enlargement. Embankment material will be excavated form a protected side borrow areas located approximately 7.5 miles upstream of the work a reas. Slit fence will be place along the outer perimeter of the gap areas to be enlarged. The borrow pit areas will be cleared and grubbed and material excavated for use as embankment in the levee enlargement to final grade and section. The side slope s of the final levee and berm sections, along with 5-foot wide contiguous strips along the toe of the berms will be fertilized, seeded and mulched. In designated areas, floodwall will be constructed by driving steel sheet piling to tie into the existing f loodwall. 9 inches of surfacing material will be placed to form a roadway on the finished levee crown.
