Description
The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Child Health (NIH, NICHD) is conducting a full and open competition for contractors capable of conducting a multi-site, randomized clinical trial to test the effect of exposure to an innovative program of behavioral interventions on adherence and glycemic control among early adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. The Prevention Research Branch (PRB), within the Division of Epidemiology, Statistics and Prevention Research (DESPR), NICHD anticipates the resultant contract being awarded to 3-4 contractors with Clinical Sites for the management of childhood diabetes that include a sizable population of young patients. Successful offerors will be responsible for the efficient and ethical implementation of the study at their respective site, and will collaborate with investigators from other sites and the NICHD to develop, implement, and evaluate the study. Overall, the study is expected to consist of 400-600 enrolled patients and include 3-4 Clinical Sites, a Coordinating Center, and the NICHD, PRB. A separate procurement (NICHD-2003-07) is being conducted for the Coordinating Center. The Government anticipates that the project will be conducted in two (2) Phases as follows: Phase 1 will focus on developing and pilot testing study procedures and obtaining clearances; Phase 2 will include the recruitment, study conduct, and contract closeout. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541720. Written Proposals will be due to the attention of Ms. Jan Leahey at the aforementioned address, leaheyj@mail.nih.gov, approximately sixty (60) days from the RFP posting date. Organizations having the requisite expertise and capability to perform this work may access an electronic version of the Request for Proposal(s), RFP-NICHD-2003-06, on or about January, 15, 2003 at the following FedBizOpps website: http://www1.eps.gov/spg/HHS/NIH/NICHD/postdate_1.html.
