- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking sources that are capable of providing a tape stacking software product and maintenance support. This software will be installed on a minimum of two IBMz/900 2064 mainframe systems connected to a StorageTek (STC) automated tape library at the National Computer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Tape Management System is CA-1 from Computer Associates. The minimal requirements are: - Easy to use Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) Interface - Stack from media type to another - Select candidates for stacking on percentage of tape utilized - Stack with like expiration dates - Select on number of days not referenced - Restack/recycle stacked volumes (delete expired Data Set Naming Blocks (DSNBs)) - Stack on dataset name (high level qualifier) - Stack to specific media type (9840) - Generate candidate reports for selection criteria - Generate Job Control Language (JCL) to run in production library - Exclude Proprietary or specific datasets by high level qualifier (always exclude list) - Generate pull lists for volumes outside silos - Provide a full range of reports that help analyze potential savings and review activity - Maintain history dataset of all dataset migration activity (audit trail) - Specify number of days to retain source volume before being scratched - Support multiple Automated Cartridge Systems (ACS) -prevent manual handling of tapes from one ACS to the other - Update Tape Management Catalog and Master Catalog - Directly communicate with Automated Tape Libraries (ATLs) from StorageTek - Support all media types - Can specify stacked cartridges to be written to scratch tapes - Maintains original expiration date of the dataset - Select on specific attributes for tape stacking - Prevent stacking of outcoded datasets with other datasets - Create selection criteria that can be saved and modified for future use - Wildcard entries to allow pattern matching to select or reject datasets or attributes - Reject stacking of datasets that are due to expire in a specified number of days - Support stacking of uncataloged datasets - Provide report containing a list of excluded datasets and reason for exclusion - Provide report containing a list of rejected datasets and reason for rejection - Provide savings analyses (forecasting) to determine the potential effectiveness of the stacking run before actually stacking - Support migration of multi-volume/multi-file datasets - Provide volume move capability that allows automatic and quick movement of the entire contents of a volume to another volume. Allows for migration to different media types. - Prevent spanning of multiple volumes during stacking run - Extract one dataset from volume with unstacking every dataset to individual tapes - Support all dataset types including proprietary datasets - Maintain expiration date of all stacked datasets on a volume - Capability to run multiple jobs concurrently - Compliancy with Section 508 - Provide a trial copy of software for 90 day test period Optional/Desirable requirements include: - Easy, convenient method to mass loading a virtual tape server. Vendors having the capability to meet the above requirements are invited to submit complete details, product literature, product identification, software and associated manpower support estimates. The responses must clearly state their ability to meet the above requirements. Interested parties must respond to this notice within 15 calendar days from date of this publication.
