- Closing Date is 30 January 2003 Prospective contractors have asked the following questions. Provided are answers to these questions. 1. What is a required finish of the case? Finish is per drawing (125 unless noted otherwise). 2. Can the case be made by die casting? Yes, can be die cast if the finished properties meet same as an impact extrusion. 3. Is this a [1] piece part? This is a one-piece item. 4. Is it possible to make the part in two pieces like brazing or gluing the mechanical plate to the rectangular tube? Making the item in two pieces and then fusing them together with a third alloy is unacceptable. Too much mechanical integrity would we lost. 5. We are uncertain about the .030" thick walls. Can they be thicker? Wall thickness must meet the dimensions/tolerances specified on the drawin g for function interfaces purposes of mating assemblies 6. Is it acceptable to substitute 6063 aluminum for the 6061? 6063 is an acceptable alternative alloy in lieu of the 6061.
