- Description
- The U. S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit Juneau plans to issue a Request for Quotation for the procurement of services to inspect and conduct maintenance on the four 700-foot towers of the Tok sectionalized LORAN-C transmitting (SLT) antenna system. The SLT antenna consists of four identical cable panels supported by the towers. The backstays and towers are insulated from the cable panels. Each galvanized steel tower has a 7-foot face width and is supported by three lanes of nine insulated guys. Services include inspection of the Towers and Tower Bases, Guys, Backstays, and Antenna Panels, Guy Anchors, and Strobe Lighting System. Maintenance items include adjustment of guy tensions and alignment of towers, strobe lighting system maintenance, installation of new dead-end guy grips where required to ensure each guy wire has the ability to be adjusted, the completion of 50 powdered metal exothermic weld repairs to the copper wire ground plane, and the preparation of a tower inspection report. The required completion date for this project is on or before October 1, 2003. This procurement is being issued on an unrestricted basis. All responsible sources may submit a quote. The proposed contract action is for services the Government intends to acquire as a commercial service item using FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13.5 TEST PROGRAM FOR CERTAIN COMMERCIAL ITEMS. The NAICS Code 513390 is assigned. The size standard is $11.0 million average annual receipts for the past three years. This solicitation will not be issued in paper form. Telephone requests will not be accepted. All relevant solicitation documents, including specifications and drawings may be accessed for download beginning on the date of issue (estimated to be January 21, 2003) from the Government-wide Electronic Posting System website (FedBizOpps) at http://www.eps.gov. Any amendments issued to the solicitation will be posted solely on that website. Prospective quoters are responsible for checking the website for amendments up to the date and time quotes are due.
