- : The Association of Old Crows and the Global Positioning System Joint Program Office (GPS JPO) will co-sponsor a Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) conference on 11-12 February 2003 at the Aerospace Corporation, Los Angeles, California. The theme of the conference will be "NAVWAR After 9/11." The conference classification is SECRET, U.S. Only. The conference chairman will be Mr. Frank Lanza, CEO L-3 Communications. The keynote speaker will be MGEN John Landry (USA, Ret.), National Intelligence Officer for Conventional Military Forces, Office of the Director of Central Intelligence. This conference will explore current plans for protecting the space, ground and user segments of the GPS system, current and emerging threats, both military and domestic, the responses to these threats currently in development and those just emerging. The agenda will include four sessions. Session I will be co-chaired by Col Ballenger, Chief, GPS JPO and Mr. Robert Huffman, President Interstate Electronics Corporation and will address "System Enhancements." There will be briefings on GPS III - Col Ballenger; M-Code - Col Dewan, GPS JPO; and Pseudolites - Col Greg Vansuch, DARPA. The session will conclude with a panel led by Mr. Len Jacobson, President, Global Systems and Marketing. Session II will be chaired by Mr. Owen Wormser, ODASD, Spectrum, Space, Sensors & C3 and will focus on "Threats." Papers will cover operational experiences, real world vulnerabilities, U.S. NAVWAR Status and Galileo/NAVWAR. This session's panel will be led by Mr. Terry McGurn and include MGEN John Landry; Mr. Milt Creighton, National Ground Intelligence Center (invited); Mr. Jamie Heller, Central Intelligence Agency; Scott Feairheller, National Air Intelligence Center; Dr. Albert Glassman, Defense Intelligence Agency (invited); Col James R. Greenlee, AFOTEC/JGPSCE; and Mr. Frank Scenna, National Air Intelligence Center (invited). Session III will be chaired by Mr. Mark Youhanaie, Raytheon El Segundo and will address "Overview of the Threat Response." Briefings will include: Electronic Protection, Support and Attack and Increased SV Signal Power - Kyle Sperry, Overlook; Inertial Navigation via MEMS IMUs and Deep Integration - Tony Abbott, Aerospace Corp.; Adaptive Processing Antijam Solutions - Low Cost Analog to High Performance Digital - David Lewis, Raytheon; Miniature Antenna Arrays - Alan Babich, SPAWAR System Center and Allen Morrison, SAIC; and Anti-jam Test Experience - Col James Greenlee, JGPSCE. A panel discussion for this session will be led by Mr. Phil Ward, President, Navward GPS Consulting. Panel members include Mark Youhanaie; Tony Abbott; Joe Lortie, Overlook; Col Greenlee; and Kyle Sperry. The final session "NAVWAR - The Future" will be chaired by Dr. Stan Alterman, Defense System Consultant. This session will provide a glimpse of potential technologies and operational capabilities in the 2025 time frame. Briefings will include MGAS, an ACTD vision of GPS III - Paul Regen, NRL; Advanced Affordable STAP AJ Antenna in a FRPA Aperture - Bob Van Wechel and Ivan Johnson, IEC; Advanced GPS Satellite Payloads - Ted Skopak, ITT; Clockless GPS Receivers - David Lamb, Theseus Logic Inc.; Precision Location without GPS, (Meshnetworks, HDTV); and Conformal, Switchable, Handheld, Wideband Antennas - Al Haase, Skycross.
