- Modification 0001 is issued to delete previously published synopsis N00178-03-Q-1004 in its entirety and replace with the following: Item 9 has been added. The synopsis was posted on 18 November 2002. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to purchase on a sole source basis accessories, delivery, and installation of a 40 mm high performance smooth bore powder gun from Physics Applications, Inc., 7635 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45458. The North American Industry Classification System code is 541618. The contract shall be a firm fixed priced contract. FOB Destination shall apply. The Request for Quote number is N00178-03-Q-1004. DESCRIPTION: 1. Breech Assembly for 40mm Powder Gun. Includes one Long Spit Tube and one Breech Plate (for long spit tube) (QTY. 2). 2. Breech Assembly for 40mm Powder Gun. Includes one Short Spit Tube and one Breech Plate (for short spit tube) (QTY. 2) 3. Add a second Side Tank Port directly opposite the orignal port in the blast tank for the 40mm powder gun. Both side ports will be closed with hinged doors that are sealed with o-ring seals (QTY. 1). 4. Add 23? I.D. Port to blast tank for the 40mm powder gun. The port will be closed with a blind flange sealed with an o-ring. The port will be located on the side of the blast tank near its downrange end (QTY. 1). 5.Modifications to blast tank for 40mm powder gun to allow the future addition of a muzzle impact tank and a debris tank assembly for planar impact experiments(QTY 1). 6.Shipping of 40mm Powder Gun System to NSWC-DD (Ref. Contract No. N00178-02-M-1067). 7. On-site Installation and Demonstration of 40mm Powder Gun System. PAI will send an engineer to NSWC-DD to install, demonstrate, and instruct NSWC personnel on the proper operation of the gun system. NSWC will be responsible for point locating all components in the appropriate gun bay per PAI?s instructions. 8. 44mm diameter X 76mm long 4-piece serrated sabot made from 30% glass-filled Ultem (QTY 75). 9. Evacuation System for Blast Tank of 40mm Powder Gun System. The system includes a vacuum pump with inlet filter capable of evacuating the blast tank to pressures down to 5 torr in approximately 15 minutes, an air-operated ball valve for isolating the pump from the tank, a remote reading vacuum transducer, and interconnecting hoses and fittings. The vacuum pump will be supplied with a motor starter (240V / 3-phase NEMA 1) and remote on-off control (QTY 1).
