Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, is soliciting for one (1), with option for one (1) additional, 120mm breech loading mortar armament system to support development activities being conducted by TACOM- ARDEC for the Responsive Accurate Mission Module (RAMM) development activity. The armament system proposed by the offeror shall be currently capable of and/or shall have the potential to be modified to accommodate automated ammunition loading, sustained rates of fire (ROF) of 6 to 8 rounds per minute (RPM), and a variety of currently inventoried and under development U.S. and/or allied 120mm mortar ammunitions. Some of this ammunition suite will include the XM395 Precision Guided Mortar Munitions (PGMM) and the XM984 DPICM rounds, both of which are currently under development. Training and test support shall be provided by the offeror as required to familiarize and provide capability to TACOM-ARDEC in the design, operation, assembly/disassembly, and maintenance of the offeror's proposed armament system. Documentation will be provided by the offeror certifying/verifying that the proposed design being acquired meets and/or exceeds the developer?s design and performance specifications and that the physical item(s) being acquired have been certified safe for use (safety release). The offeror shall propose cost options for both an armament system that includes gun mount hardware and an armament system that does not include gun mount hardware. The Government intends to award multiple contracts for demonstration of offeror?s proposed armament system. This demonstration will be used to substantiate capability, reliability, robustness, and performance. Site location shall be at the discretion of the offeror. The government may elect not to require a demonstration. The Government intends to make a single award based on technical/schedule, cost, and past performance factors. If your firm is interested in participating as a prime contractor for this effort, please provide a letter of invitation to contract specialist providing location and purpose (120mm Mortar System site visit/demonstration). This will enable our customer to obtain appropriate security clearance for overseas travel. Hardware (one complete Armament system) will be required at a U.S. TACOM-ARDEC designated destination within 1-3 months after award of contract. Any additional hardware requiring modification by the offeror's manufacturing facility shall have a turn around time of 2-4 weeks after notice of a design change has been provided. It is anticipated that the RFQ will be released on or about December 5, 2002. Offers should be submitted via E-mail to Edward Czekaj at eczekaj@pica.army.mil and Robert McMinn at rmcminn@pica.army.mil ,via fax (973-724-6542), or mail.
