- Description
- This project will consist of grading, drainage, and surfacing on 11.71 miles of roadway (largest schedule), for Desert View/South Entrance Roads, in Grand Canyon National Park, Coconino County, State of Arizona. Estimated price range is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Principal work items: Construction survey and staking, lump sum; contractor testing, lump sum; silt fence 3,900 ln ft; watering for dust control, 500 mgal; clearing and grubbing, 20.0 acres; removal of asphalt pavement, 25,000 sq yd; removal of building, structures, and obstructions, lump sum; roadway excavation, 27,500 cu yd; placed riprap, class 2, 210 cu yd; aggregate base, 19,100 tons; roadway reconditioning, 425 stations; aggregate shouldering, 4,200 tons; asphalt cement, grade PG 64-28, 2,740 tons; superpave asphalt concrete pavement, 41,500 tons; prime coast grade MC-70, 235 tons; reinforced colored Portland cement concrete pavement, 4,000 sq yd; pipe culvert, various sizes, 1,130 ln ft; colored Portland cement concrete curb, 4,000 ln ft; stone curb, 4,000 ln ft; asphalt concrete curb, various depth, 7,940 ln ft; asphalt concrete sidewalk, 8,500 sq yd; guardrail system (wood posts), 762 ln ft; traffic control, 14,250 hours; along with associated temporary construction fences, sign installation, and temporary concrete barriers and pavement markings. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
