Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) intends to award a sole source purchase order to MWG Biotech, High Point, NC 27265, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This is to be issued under FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The purchase is for a RoboSeq 4204S Robot for the automation of plasmid purification setup of sequencing reactions, cycling, and removal of the non-incorporated terminators. The system specification/requirements are as follows: 1) Completely automate the following applications: mouse tail preps, PCR reaction set-ups, PCR purifications, plasmid purifications, RT-PCR set-ups, protein assays, ELISA assays, and general liquid-handling protocols; 2) Utilize integrated vacuum manifold to completely automate the following applications without any user intervention: mouse tail preps, PCR purifications, and plasmid purifications; 3) Vacuum pressure is able to be adjusted, so that different pressures can be set for different kit protocols; 4) Six (6) Peltier-controlled positions that are temperature controlled. These each have independent temperature range from 4 degrees C to 60 degrees C; 5) Two (2) Peltier-controlled pipetting positions. Can be either 96, 384, or flat to accommodate the widest variety of plates. Each can be independently set. Temp. range from 4 degrees C to 60 degrees C; 6) One (1) Peltier-controlled tube rack that allows usage of 96x 1.5 ml tubes. Rack can be cooled down to 4 deg C; 7) One (1) Peltier-cooled reagent rack that will allow usage of 4x troughs of 90 ml each; 8) Large troughs necessary to hold large buffer volumes for certain applications. Rack can be cooled down to 4 deg C; 9) One (1) Peltier-cooled reagent rack that will accommodate the following: 5x 18 ml reservoir beakers, 21x 1.5 ml tubes. Rack is cooled down to 4 deg C; 10) One (1) Peltier-cooled hotel plate storage stacker that can be cooled to 4 degrees C, and is available in an enclosed (darkened) version for light-sensitive applications; 11) Utilize vertical stacking Starlab disposable tip racks. Each Starlab stacker holds up to 5 tip racks. This saves deck space, and allows for additional modules to be placed onto the deck. Starlab tips can be used in both 96 and 384-well format; 12) Utilize reversible tube racks. Accommodate tube racks that allow for 96x 1.5 ml tubes on one side, and 96x 0.5 ml tubes on the opposite side; 13) On-board plate gripper arm that can move plates from pipetting positions into the vacuum, and into the hotel storage rack; 14) Custom application training and full protocols to support primary applications at initial installation & training. To include: mouse tail preps, PCR rxn set-ups, PCR purification, and plasmid purifications; 15) Local service and applications support. When under warranty or extended service contract, guaranteed on-site service within 24 hrs; 16) Ability to later integrate a magnetic bead station and stirrer to allow for full automation of mag bead kits; 17) Ability to later integrate an integrated MWG Primus thermal cycler. Cyclers come with motorized lids for complete walk-away functionality. Cyclers available in both 96 and 384 format. Come with patented high-pressure lid (HPL) technology to prevent evaporation out of microplates; 18) Software is graphical user interface based. It is designed on a Windows NT platform. Able to be networked easily. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 8 days of date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with MWG Biotech. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500EM.. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. There is no solicitation package available.
