Description

NA This contract is a sole source award to Science Application International Corporation (SAIC). It is for the procurement of Military Mobile Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System (MMVACIVIS) training/operator/maintenance services for a period of six (6) months with one 6-months option period. The MMVACIS is a portable gamma-ray imager for vehicles and cargo developed for the United States Department of Defense. It usesgamma-rays to non-intrusively inspect freight contained on pallets, in trucks, cargo container s, and passenger vehicles. Operators viewing the gamma-ray images on a video monitor can identify voids, false walls or ceilings, and other secret compartments typically associated with the transportation of drugs, explosives, and weapons. Operators search ing for stolen or smuggled goods can use the images to determine whether the cargo is visually consistent with the declared cargo manifest. The MMVACIS unit is currently located at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo and has performed Cargo inspection dueties for a per iod of one year.
