Description
The purpose of this amendment is to respond to bidders questions regarding the fire-suppression system and incorporate a bid requirement for fire-suppression, and provide information regarding bid opening attendance. (A) In response to bidders questions regarding the fire-suppresion system for Building 211: Yes, a fire suppression system is required by contract. The contractor is required to provide a licensed fire-suppression system. The Section 15300 of the specification was inadvertently omitted. NIMA contacted the A&E firm to obtain a copy of the missing document. The piping section of the specification, Section 15300, is available and will be posted on the NIMA AC homepage at the following address: http://www.nima.mil/poc/contracts/construct.html. However, the Government has identified flaws in the fire-suppression design information that cannot be rectified before bid opening. As such, the entire fire-suppression specification is not available before bid opening. To allow procurement to continue, each bidder shall include $100,000 in their bid price to cover the fire-suppression system. The Government and bidders agree that this is not intended to be the final price for the fire-suppression system; rather it is intended to be a placeholder. The final cost for the fire-suppression system will be negotiated and incorporated into the resultant contract award after contract award. The intent of the $100,000 mandatory bid price is to ensure all bids are submitted on a fair and equal basis. This $100,000 fire-suppression system cost shall be clearly identified in the bid Not clearly identifying this cost may be cause for rejecting the bid. (B) Bid Opening - The bid opening remains unchanged: 2:00 p.m. on 12 September 02. Bid Opening will be at National Imagery and Mapping Agency, Bethesda, MD. Due to increased security procedures, bidders who will be attending the bid opening must submit their name (s) to Tamara Verdon, verdont@nima.mil., no later than 2:00 on September 10th. Due to limited parking, request that each bidder organization bring only one vehicle.
