Description
Sverdrup Technology, Inc. (Sverdrup) intends to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for engineering support in accordance with the following requirements: Masters or PhD from an accredited university in any degree field with a solid (strong) mechanics background (Aerospace Engineering, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) is required. Minimum useful background would be advanced coursework in fracture mechanics, finite element analysis (FEA), and experimental test procedures. Prefer a background in fracture mechanics data reduction and test procedures, including a working knowledge of theory and test procedures consistent with ASTM E399, ASTM E1820, ASTM E647, and ASTM E740. Need familiarity with constraint concepts such as T and Q. This position will have a near term focus exclusively on technical contributions to Sverdrup/NASA/MSFC/ED33 (Metallic Materials & Processes Group). This individual will develop and oversee fracture test programs, resolve related problems within test facilities, reduce test data (including interpreting validity criteria, developing and specifying fracture mechanics design properties, and governing appropriate application fracture mechanics data to structural analysis), and will also develop and execute plans for custom mechanical testing, including test machine control and data acquisition. This individual will be expected to become familiar with fracture mechanics analysis codes and associated material databases, particularly NASGRO, FD-code (Rocketdyne), AFGROW, WARP3D, ABAQUS, FEA-Crack, FEA-Flaw, and FractureGraphic. Sverdrup intends to purchase these services from an organization such as an independent subcontractor or contract labor agency. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications (i.e., company background, individual resumes, etc.) to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than September 30, 2002. Such capabilites/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by Sverdrup not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, or to not proceed with any award, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of Sverdrup. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by Sverdrup.=20=20
