Description

NA . The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for the installation of an existing borehole instrumentation package in the Long Valley Exploratory Well (LVEW) located in center of the Long Valley Caldera in eastern California. This instrument will be permanently installed and will serve as a deep scientific observatory within the Long Valley Observatory monitoring network. This requirement is the final stage of an International Continental Deep Drilling Project that was initiated in 1985. The USGS intends to award a noncompetitive purchase order to Sondi and Consultants to perform this installation. To the best of our knowledge Sondi and Consultants is the only known source that has access to the required 55 degree tilt HQ bore hole instrument and 3 pair twisted shielded with drain wire and external armor cabling system. This instrument is capable of detecting near field effects of micro-earthquakes. This award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures. All sources who believe that they can obtain this instrument package and associated cabling may submit a capability statement within 10 days from the date of this announcement.
