NAICS Code: 334516 The United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. E.P.A.) intends to award a sole source purchase order contract to Dionex Corporation of Sunnyvale CA (also Atlanta GA) for an Accelerated Solvent Extractor, in support of the National Atmospheric Radiation Evaluation Laboratory (NAREL) at Montgomery AL. Specifications: 1. The accelerated solvent extractor will need to accommodate samples containing water insoluble or slightly water soluble semivolatile organic compounds from soils, clays, sediments, sludges, and waste solids and be capable of performing analyses on environmental samples according to US EPA SW-846 Method 3545A, Pressurized Fluid Extraction. 2. The accelerated solvent extractor must include all accessories necessary to extract soils, clays, sediments, sludges, and waste solid samples. These accessories must include: a) a solvent caddy capable of holding up to four (4) one (1) or two (2) liter solvent bottles; b) capability of unattended, automatic switching between solvents; c) capability for automatic mixing of a maximum of four (4) solvents. 3. The accelerated solvent extractor system must include safety features such as an automatic pressure sensor and pressure relief during extraction cell heating. 4. The accelerated solvent extractor system must be able to extract up to 12 samples unattended and produce filtered extracts ready for final cleanup or analysis. It must be fully automated, placing extraction cells into the oven and returning the cells to the tray after extraction. It must have a sample carousel with at least four (4) rinse positions for unattended operation. It must be capable of being computer controlled, and include all required electrical and plumbing connections. 5. The accelerated solvent extractor system must be comprised of all new components and must be a benchtop unit with all accessories and peripherals necessary to perform the extraction. 6. The accelerated solvent extractor system must have an oven temperature control of up to 200 degrees Celsius with the ability to use 34 milliliter, 66 milliliter, or 100 milliliter extraction cells. 7. The accelerated solvent extractor system must have built-in fluid sensors that detect the arrival of fluid into the collection vial and fluid levels during the extraction collection. It must have an automatic shutoff to sensor failure. 8. The accelerated solvent extractor system must have the ability to perform multiple sequential extractions per individual cells. 9. The accelerated solvent extractor system must have front panel control with both method and scheduler editor, and method and schedule storage capacity. 10. The accelerated solvent extractor system hardware and software must be certified by the manufacturer to be Year 2000 (Y2K) compliant. 11. Any quote must include delivery to US EPA NAREL, 540 South Morris Ave, Montgomery AL 36115-2601, and installation at the facility by a trained and qualified specialist(s) within four (4) weeks after formal acknowledgement of contract award. 12. Any quote must also include familiarization at the time of installation at the US EPA NAREL facility for staff scientists by the manufacturer's application specialists. It must also include at least a one (1) year warranty on all parts and labor. The manufacturer must be capable of providing prompt on-site repair by trained service technicians. See Note 22.
