Description
NA The US Marine Corps (USMC) is conducting a survey of fabrics and liners for a potential New Physical Fitness Uniform (NPFU). Prototypes of design concepts will be displayed at the upcoming Modern Day Marine show being held on September 17 through the 19th at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Quantico Virginia. The USMC is looking for fabrics and liners with properties that will give the Marine the most comfort and durability during physical training (PT) and be comfortable enough to wear during liberty time. Imp ortant features to be considered for the outer shell are moisture management, water repellency, tensile and tear strength, anti-microbial properties, durable to repeated home launderings, quiet, low air permeability, good soil and stain release properties, good abrasion properties and fabric hand and appearance. Fabrics that possess a micro fiber hand are highly desirable in as long as they meet durability requirements. For liners, moisture management, weight, anti-microbial and elasticity are all critical considerations. Interested parties must submit three yards sample of each fabric or liner along with complete technical data information including but not limited to the tests listed below: -Weight oz/sq.yd. ASTM D3776 -Yarns per inch ASTM D3775 -Breaking Strength ASTM D5034 -Tear Strength ASTM D1424 -Dimensional Stability AATCC135 After 20 launderings -Water Resistance AATCC 22 -Moisture Vapor Trans, ASTM E96 Test BW (Inverted) and Test B (Upright) -Air Permeability D737 All fabrics received will become Government property and the Government will not return any samples submitted. The Government holds the right to test any of the fabrics. Additionally, all submissions must be Berry Amendment compliant.
