Description
SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT: EXPANDED ALUMINUM MESH TANK FILLER Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD), Louisville Detachment, in conjunction with the McConnell Technology and Training Center (MTTC), is seeking sources to participate in an evaluation of expanded aluminum mesh tank filler products for potential use in shipboard fuel tanks (MOGAS - Motor Gasoline; DFM -Distillate Fuel Marine (NATO Symbol F76); and JP-5 - Aviation Gasoline). This testing is FOR INFORMATION ONLY and no contracts will be awarded by NSWC, PHD, Louisville Detachment as a result of this testing. Part 1 of the evaluation is to analyze the chemical and physical properties of the material and the corrosive effects of the fuel on the filler material. All three fuels will be used in the Part 1 evaluation. Sources interested in participating in this test shall supply four (4) p ounds of aluminum mesh material samples for the chemical, physical and corrosion testing. This material is to be provided at no cost to the Government for this testing. If the provided material successfully meets the Government's requirements in Part 1 of the evaluation, material sufficient to dense fill two 55-gallon drums and a 6-gallon motor boat fuel tank will be procured by the MTTC for further evaluation. Part 2 of the evaluation is ballistic firing testing with the material in fuel tanks. Live fire testing will use MOGAS and DFM. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR MANUFACTURER'S PRODUCTS PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPREHENSIVE TESTING. NSWC PHD LOUISVILLE DETACHMENT WILL NOT AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS TESTING. Sources interested in submitting samples for Part 1 testing should submit samples by 28 Aug 02. Samples received after 28 Aug 02 will not be evaluated and mater ial will not be returned. Material for Part 2 testing should be delivered 30 days after receipt of order from the MTTC.
