- The National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) has a requirement for expertise on early childhood reading preparation research and anticipates that the major tasks to be performed include the following: (1) developing and managing the NIFL's Early Childhood Initiative; (2) planning and executing dissemination activities geared to early childhood instructors, parents, and those who work with parents; (3) staying abreast of the research in the field; (4) identifying and developing needed resources to meet field needs; and (5) managing the content development of the Partnership for Reading Web area on early childhood literacy development. Questions about the RFP will be accepted until August 5, 2002 at 2:00 PM EST. and may be emailed to: sabbott@nifl.gov or mailed to Sharyn Abbott, National Institute for Literacy, Suite 730, 1775 I Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20006-2417. The RFP will be issued on or about August 12, 2002. The closing date is September 06, 2002. Requests for copies of the RFP may be made by E-mail, regular mail, fax (202-233-2051), or in person. All requests shall reference RFP #ED-02-Q-0009 and the title of the RFP. The RFP can also be found on the Internet on or about the RFP issue date at http://www.nifl.gov/nifl/grants_contracts/contracts.html. A draft Statement of Work will be found on this web site on or about July 29, 2002, and responses to questions will found at the web site on or about August 12, 2002. E-mail requests must be sent to Sharyn Abbott at sabbott @nifl.gov. Mail or telegram requests shall be sent to the above address. Copies may be picked up in person on the issue date at the same address. For this simplified acquisition, all responsible and qualified sources may submit a proposal for consideration (both small businesses and individuals will be considered). The contract will be awarded pending the availability of funds.
