Description
The National Cancer Institute, Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology(LCMB) plans on entering into a sole source contract with Perkin Elmer Life Sciences, 549 Albany Street, Boston, MA 02118 for a 442/515 Laser/Fiberoptic Set which is compatible with an existing Ultra View Confocal Microscope. The LCMB requires a laser set which will allow observation of proteins labeled with cyan variant of the green fluorescent protein (CFP) and the yellow variant (YEP) in live and fixed cells of the social amoeba, D. discoideum and activated Jurkat T-cells. The Laser/Fiberoptic Set will allow the monitoring of CFP, measurement of the signals emitted by CFP and YFP simultaneously, and allow real-time detection of fluorescent resonance energy transfer phenomena (FRET) between labeled proteins in living cells which is not possible under current configurations. Perkin Elmer Life Sciences is the only source known to the Government that can provide a laser system that is compatible with an existing Ultra View Confocal Microscope. This is not a request for competitive quotations, however,if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. This statement must demonstrate that an alternate system provided will be equivalent in quality, function and compatibility. The statement and any other supporting documentation must be furnished in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if the party meets the requirement. Information must be received in the contracting office no later than 1:30 P.M. EDT (Local Washington, D.C. time) on July 30, 2002. If you have further questions please contact Cynthia Brown, (301) 402-4509. The NAICS Code 334417 and the business size standard are 500 employees.
