Description
This is an amendment to previously announced 02ERSS0003. Contact information: Melissa Gill, Contract Specialist, Voice (703) 648-7343, FAX: (703) 648-7367. In accordance with the Department of Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, as enacted by section 1000(a)(3) of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2000 (Public Law 106-113), the U.S. Geological Survey requires the services of an educational institution or nonprofit organization that has demonstrated ability and programs in place to serve the USGS as a resource to refer potential candidates and subsequently manage interns in short-term internship opportunities with the USGS. The anticipated award date is September 15, 2002. Services are needed from date of award through 12 months plus four option years. The Contractor shall provide career counseling services, continuous progress evaluation, and maintain an alumni network database. The Contractor shall provide seminars and national conferences to educate and give guidance in career opportunities for individuals pursuing careers in the environmental sciences. The contractor must have a successful track record for placement of interns within the natural sciences vocations. The interns will participate in multi-level, multi-disciplinary USGS scientific projects. The interns will receive training while working on short-term (three months to two years) research and assessment projects relating to geologic hazards, mineral resources, and water quality, other water resources programs and biological resources programs. All responsible sources that have a valid Dun & Bradstreet number may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
