- This project entails the relocation of the historic Manzanar Mess Hall located at the airport at Bishop, California to the Manzanar National Historic Site. The distance of the move will be approximately 55 miles. The building will be moved in four sections on pubolic roads and highways including approximately 50 miles of travel on Highway 395. Contractor shall make all arrangements with necessary public agencies associated with this building move. National Park Service Staff will provide support for communication with public agencies involved with the move (i.e., California Highway Patrol, CalTrans, and Inyo County). Contractor shall coordinate final route with all agencies. The Contractor shall provide advance written notification of its plan for moving the building sections and shall specify the step-by-step process it intends to employ during the loading, transport, and off-loading of the sections. As each section is delivered by the moving contractor, National Park Service Staff will assist the contractor to achieve the precise planned location of the building on the cribbing to within 0.5 inches of specified corner points. The Contractor will be responsible for setting each section so that each section is level and the same height as the other sections. Variation in height in each section shall be no greater than 0.5 inches from any other section. The cribbing shall remain on-site until such time the National Park Service completes preparation of permanent footings. A copy of the solicitation will be available via the Internet at www.fedbizops.com or www.ideasec.nbc.gov approximately 15 days after the announcement date.
