Description

The National Park Service is seeking a qualified contractor to complete the restoration of Denver & Rio Grande Western Outfit Car No. 04414, displayed at Curecanti National Recreation Area, near the visitor center at Cimarron, Colorado. Cimarron is approximately 20 miles east of Montrose, Colorado on US Highway 50. The car is to be restored to its circa 1940 appearance. The contractor is responsible for providing removal, transportation to and from contractor facilities. Work will cover new or existing wood and metal fabric for exterior sides and roof, car undercarriage, anchors and fasteners, painting exterior and interior and lettering. A prospective contractor must have a successful track record in undertaking and completing restoration projects on historic railroad equipment over the past five years. Contractor must show that experience has included preservation, restoration, reconstruction of at least two projects on either standard or narrow gauge equipment that is on display or in use outdoors. Prior experience with model equipment, scaled-down operations, or speciality entertainment transportation systems that also utilize rails will not be credited. A site visit is scheduled for 10AM August 6, 2002 at the Cimarron Visitor Center. More detailed information is available in the Scope of Work in the Solicitation Documents. The solcitation package Q1379020039 will be available at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or about July 24,2002. Contractors must register at the website in order to download the Solicitation and Attachments. A hard copy of the solicitation may be requested by fax to the Attention of Harriet J. Anema, Contracting Officer, Curecanti National Recreation Area, at 970-641-3127. Hard copy of the Quotation Q1379020039 will be due by 4:30 PM on August 23, 2002.
