Description

This work involves the repair of a single-purpose earthen dam built in 1977 and located in Hill County, approximately 2.5 miles Northwest of Penelope, Hill County, Texas. The objective of this repair design is to remove and replace the principle spillway inlet riser and outlet conduit, bedding, cantilever, pipe cantilever support, anti-seep collars, and repair the plunge basin upstream slope. The upstream slope of the plunge basin will be reconstructed and lined with rock riprap. This will also include breaching the dam and reshaping and recompacting the embankment slope after installing the new principle spillway system and drainage diaphragm and strip drain. The major items of work requiring inspection consists of approximately 2,514 cu.yds. of common excavation and 2,160 cu.yds. of compacted earthfill; 21.3 cu.yds. of concrete, 1,051 lbs. of reinforcement steel, placing 142 tons of rock riprap, the installation of 1,426 ft. of barbed wire fence; and removing and installing 105' of 36" I.D. C-76 pipe and 7.5' of 66" I.D. C-76 pipe. Only one award will be made for the entire project. The NAICS Code is 234990. Performance period will be 64 calendar days from receipt of the Notice to Proceed date, which will be approximately August 23, 2002. A 20% bid bond will be required. Performance and payment bonds of 100% each will be required of the contractor awarded this contract. This project is unrestricted and is not set-aside for small business concerns. Price range is from $100,000 to $250,000. Site showing will be conducted on July 29, 2002, 10:00 A.M., at Hillsboro I.S.D., 126 S. Covington Street, Hillsboro TX 76645. Solicitation will be posted and be available to download on or about July 19, 2002.
