- Description
- The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is seeking to award one or more cost sharing Cooperative Agreements to partners or Conductor Teams who can develop and implement Field Operational Tests (FOT) for Electronically Controlled Braking Systems (ECBS). A Conductor Team is defined as the group of organizations (such as vehicle manufacturer, brake manufacturer, fleet operator, etc.) selected by US DOT to perform a Field Operational Test of Electronically Controlled Braking Systems. The primary goals of the Field Operational Tests are to (1) achieve an improved understanding of the overall safety of ECBS in terms of performance, reliability, durability, maintainability and (2) Determine the safety benefits of ECBS in an over-the-road, revenue-generating environment. All systems field tested as part of this program will be evaluated in terms of performance, reliability, durability, and maintainability. In addition, a safety benefits evaluation will be performed on those systems with advanced brake safety system components (e.g. high speed communications, ?balanced braking? components, etc.). A pre-proposal conference to provide more information on this program is planned for on or about August 22, 2002 at the U.S. Dept. of Transportation Headquarters Building in Washington D.C. Further details regarding the conference will be provided in the near future through an amendment to this synopsis. The Request for Applications/Proposal due date is scheduled for September 30, 2002. NO FURTHER SOLICITATION INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. This solicitation will also be available electronically through FedBizOpps, the Electronic Posting System (EPS) at www.eps.gov and is scheduled for release on or about August 15, 2002. No telephonic, facsimile or e-mail requests for the solicitation package will be accepted. All responsible sources may submit an application/proposal, which shall be considered by USDOT/FHWA.
