Description
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with Amersham Biosciences in Piscataway, NJ to furnish, deliver (F.O.B. Destination), and install a new AKTAexplorer System (Biocompatible Liquid Chromatography) and Accessories at the USDA, ARS, NAA, Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC), 600 E. Mermaid Lane, Wyndmoor, PA 19038. The USDA, ARS, ERRC, Crop Conversion Science and Engineering Research Unit (CCS&E) is engaged in a wide variety of agriculturally important research projects where detailed knowledge and the use of plant and microbial enzymes is critical. Purification of biomolecules from complex starting materials is a key component necessary for obtaining information about individual enzymes and their associated activities. The ability to easily develop and optimize separation methods and protocols for isolating and characterizing research quantities of enzymes has been of critical importance in the application for enzymes based technologies. For CCS&E's intended applications, it has been determined that a fully integrated biocompatible liquid chromatography system and components is required. Critical considerations include liquid handling, detection, run-to-run reproducibility, Pentium 4 (minimum) control system and Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating System software (minimum), methods development, and automation. The system and components must be UL Approved and manufactured to all required Safety Standards. The additional system components include: 1) Fraction collector; 2) Networking Software controller(including upgrades); and 3)Start-up kits. The system also includes: shipping; installation; on-site training for six (6) individuals; two (2) sets of the operations, repair and maintenance manuals; service instructions; software operating instructions; and one (1) set of the software disks. In addition, a one-year parts and labor warranty on the equipment is required and one copy of any available extended warranties and costs. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must submit a written substantive statement outlining the Company's and systems' capabilities, available service agreements and consumables (including price lists) to the Contracting Officer within 5 days of publication of this notice. This is not a request for proposal. No solicitation is available. Please send information by mail. E-mails and faxes are not acceptable.
