- Description
- The Maryland Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Baltimore Division, Baltimore, MD is seeking an Architect/Engineering firm capable of providing professional multi-disciplinary architectural engineering services to include complete design and construction period services to renovate clinic areas in the Baltimore VA Medical Center, Baltimore, MD in accordance with the terms of this solicitation. This includes renovating existing clinic spaces to improve functionality, staff and resource efficiencies and customer service. It will consolidate and optimize medical specialty clinic spaces, improve reassignment of various specialty clinic spaces, improve patient registration and waiting area, as well as to implement new outpatient pharmacy consultation area. It will also provide an additional elevator to ease patient flow issues to clinic spaces on the upper floors of the Baltimore Medical Center. All Work to be preformed will be in accordance with the terms of the contract. The general intent is to award a contract to a firm with specialized experience in the following: (a) Design of outpatient clinics (b) Construction in an active Tertiary Care Medical Center (c) Healthcare elevator design The estimated construction range is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. All Interested firms must have working offices within 200 miles of the VA Baltimore Medical Center. The following Evaluation Criteria will be used during the A/E selection Process: 1. Specialized experience and technical competence in the design of out patient clinics. 2. Specialized experience and technical competence in the design of hospital elevator Systems for hospitals. 3. Capacity of the firm to perform the work within required time frames. 4. Past Performance particularly Government Contracts. 5. Professional Qualifications to include in-house expertise in the healthcare planning and design (specifically design of outpatient clinics). The firm may have in-house or joint venture expertise in the related Engineering Disciplines (ie. Civil, Architecture, Environmental, Medical, Fire Protection, Vertical Transportation and Structural). To be considered, the firm must have one Partner of the firm or officer of the corporation duly licensed to practice engineering in one of the 50 United States. Firms should have previous experience with the design and construction of out- patient clinics in an active medical Facility. 6. Geographic location of the firms working office in relation to the renovation site. 7. Demonstrated success in prescribing the use of recovered materials, and using waste reduction efficiency in facility design. 8. Reputation and standing of the firm and its principle officials with respect to professional performance, general management and cooperativeness. 9. Record of significant claims against the firm because of improper or incomplete architectural and engineering services.
