Harris, (301) 757-9708 This is a SOURCES SOUGHT synopsis for a Museum Director at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum This is NOT a request for quote and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. Navy museums are established to preserve and interpret the history of the United States Navy in order to educate naval personnel and the public in the heritage and traditions of the Navy. These services are performed under the guidance of SECNAVINST 5755.1A and NAVAIRWARCENACDIVINST 5755.1A. These instructions define operation of the museum. The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland is seeking sources capable of performing the duties of Director of the Navy Museum. The Museum Director is the chief executive officer of the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum. Under the guidance of the museum?s nonprofit Association and the Commander, Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, the Director provides program leadership, manages personnel and is responsible for the Museum?s physical assets and financial resources. The Association and Commander, NAS delegate full authority to the Director for all operational issues and activities. The Director?s responsibilities include management, planning, collection management, exhibits, education, marketing, and facilities maintenance. The Museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 0900 to 1700. The director is required to work 40 hours per week. The museum is open year round on all federal holidays except for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year?s.
