- Description
- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) proposes to noncompetitively issue a purchase order with Northwest Habitat Institute, P. O. Box 855, Corvallis, Oregon 97339 for the mapping of the oak/pine/Douglas-fir stands within the Willamette Valley. Oregon's Willamette Valley foothill ecosystem has a unique assemblage of plants and animals adapted to historic high frequency low intensity fires. Fire suppression, urban and agricultural conversion and past timber management activities have contributed to the decline in quality and quantity of native Oregon white oak (Quercus garryana) and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) communities.
