- Description
- Air Force Research Laboratory, Air Vehicles Directorate, Aeronautical Sciences Division, Computational Sciences Branch (AFRL/VAAC) solicits research proposals for the Geometry and Grid Modeling for Numerical Simulation Program. The goal of this effort is to build upon an existing informal national consortium formed to promote the acceptance and use of modular mesh generation software. This effort will identify and establish software standards that enable integration and interoperation of individual grid generation modules. It will also consider development and application of such modules in overall grid generation frameworks suitable for conducting engineering analyses, such as computational fluid dynamics. Emphasis is placed on software programming language interoperability, application interfaces, standards definitions and the modules themselves, in contrast to complete grid generation packages. Example modules include, but are not limited to, geometry model inspection/repair, surface meshing, volume meshing, and mesh smoothing. Software modules created by commercial parties will be considered provided they conform to the standards established in this effort. Feedback is solicited for the existing preliminary consortium module standards (to be provided) and how these standards may be improved or enhanced. Ideas are strongly encouraged for coordination of this effort with other collaborative projects related to component software for preprocessing and engineering analysis. Interested offerors may view and/or download the full PRDA solicitation by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOps) homepage at http://www.eps.gov/. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement.
