Description
The U.S. Customs intends to issue an IDIQ contract for a five-year period for the following Lock box. The SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIREARMS LOCK BOX are as follows: MULTIPURPOSE: Our requirement is for a firearms lock box that can be utilized in various settings such as: Government owned vehicle (GOV), Personally owned vehicle (POV), Residence, Hotel, Office, Travel. MATERIAL: Hardened composite material or metal case with at least one (1) inch total of foam in the interior of the lock box to protect the firearm. STYLE: A briefcase or rectangular style lock box with a strong, comfortable handle that would enable easy and safe transportation from location to location by the armed officer. The handle should be strong enough to also be utilized for supplemental retention via a cable lock or chain to secure the lock box to another object. LOCKING DEVICES: A double locking system, if possible, which would provide security against theft and\or removal for the storage site. A key style lock would be the required method of locking device with a secondary three- (3) digit combination lock. SIZE: The lock box should be large enough to retain two (2) Glock model 19, 17 or 26 firearms along with two (2) magazines. The maximum size of the lock box would be fifteen (15) inches by fourteen (14) inches by five (5) inches. WEIGHT: Ten (10) pounds or less empty. MOUNTING BRACKETS: The lock box must have three (3) external mounting brackets or securing systems to affix the same lock box in the vehicle (GOV and POV), office and residential setting. The securing system must easily permit the transfer of the unit from one location to another by the armed employee. COMPLIANCE: Compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements is required for the lock box. ADDITIONAL CABLE LOCK: An eighteen (18) inch keyed cable lock must be included with the lock box to secure the lock box to another object should a mounting plates not be available (rental vehicle or other location). WARRANTY: The lock boxes must be covered by a full warranty for one (1) year for manufacturer defects and malfunctions. DELIVERY: The delivery of the lock boxes must begin prior to September 30, 2002 to approximately two (200) hundred locations throughout the United States. Shipping charges would be included in the price of the units. At least two thousand (2,000) units must be shipped a month to the identified locations. Shipping cost to be included. Delivery orders will be issued. Multiple awards will not be made. The amount per delivery order will vary. The minimum amount is $750,000.
