- Description
- SINGLE CARRIER TRI-BAND MEDIUM DATA RATE SHF SATELLITE SYSTEM POC: Mr. E. J. More, Contracting Officer (813) 281-0560, extension 277. United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) at MacDill Air Force Base, FL is issuing this notice as a Request for Information announcement. There is no intention of issuing a solicitation at or awarding a contract at this time. The intent is to identify sources who can provide a fully integrated tri-band (C, X, Ku) deployable medium data rate satellite terminal system for evaluation. The requirement is for a system, built around an antenna no larger than 1.5 meters in diameter, cross-pole transmit and receive (horizontal/vertical) C, and Ku-bands, circular polarization C, X-bands, L-Band IF interface (950-1750 MHz), satellite modem, and a standard data interface capability. Interested parties must be able to provide a fully operational system for evaluation by 1 Aug 02 at Ft. Bragg, NC. The system design shall comply with the DOD Joint Technical Architecture (JTA). In addition to meeting the requirements of this specification, the system shall be packaged to be transported by two persons and be set up in less than 30 minutes. The system shall meet the following minimum operating standards: - +/- 15 degrees of azimuth movement, 90 degrees elevation movement, with automatic satellite tracking based on either the communications signal or a satellite beacon - Satellite modem capable of BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, and 8PSK modulation, with Reed-Solomon coding and error correction, sequential decoding at rates of 1/2, 3/4 and 7/8, an RS-422/449 data interface, and capable of operating at IBS and IDR data rates up to 1.544 Mbps in X and Ku-bands, 768 Kbps in C-band, L-Band IF interface - Extended Ku-band transmit frequency range (13.75-14.5 GHz) - RF performance will be such that a link at rates of 1.544 Mbps in X and Ku-bands and 768 Kbps in C-band can be established and maintained between two identical terminals. - System shall use carriers in the C, X, and Ku frequency bands; meeting SYRACUSE, International Telecommunication Satellite Organization (INTELSAT), Pan American Satellite Organization (PANAMSAT), Eutelsat, Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), NATO, SKYNET, and Domestic satellite requirements. The system shall also operate with the Wideband Gapfiller satellite system when that space segment is operational. - System shall be certified for use on the space segments defined above or provide data indicating compliance and eventual certification for operations over those space segments. - System shall operate using 24Volts DC and 120/240 VAC 60-440HZ. - System (modem, transceiver, high power amplifier, antenna, drive and tracking, and feed assemblies) shall be configured for transport in transit cases not exceeding two-man lift as defined in MIL-STD-1472 Human Engineering Design Criteria for Military Systems, Equipment, and Facilities. - Total system weight and volume when configured for transport shall not exceed 600 pounds and 60 cubic feet. - Interested vendors may submit product information and availability to Mr. E. J. More at moree@socom.mil
