Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled COLD SHROUD, solicitation no. 8-1-1-S7-D6602 which was posted on APRIL 1, 2002. You are notified that the following changes are made: (1) THE DUE DATE FOR OFFERS HAS BEEN EXTENDED (2)ANSWERS/RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS/ISSUES RECEIVED ARE POSTED (3)SPECIFICATION CHANGES ARE POSTED AND (4) DRAWINGS FOR THE COLD SHROUD ARE POSTED. The due date for receipt of quotes is extended UNTIL MAY 2, 2002. The answers/answers to questions/issues received are listed below: (1) Regarding lines 9 and 10 cylinder shall be constructed of 3/16" thick 6061_T6 extrusions and end panels shall be constructed of 3/16" thick 6061_T6 plate with 1" aluminum D-tube welded on for cooling. (2) Regarding the issue concerning leak check. The He leak check shall be conducted on assembled shroud tubing (i.e the entire cooling path shall be leak checked) not just tube sections. (3) Question received: "Do you intend to use the stainless conflat with an aluminum transition piece or do you want an aluminum conflat and then use an aluminum gasket?" The response received: Stainless steel conflat flanges shall be used throughout. (4) Question received: Who or what is SD74? Response received: SD74 is the organization requesting the Cold shroud. (5) Question received: When will the drawings be available? Response received: The drawings will be posted in this amendment. (6) Question received: We would plan to run cooling tubes parallel to the axis of the cylinder. Is this ok? Response received: Yes (7) Question received: Do you plan to break the cooling lines to the door at the conflat flange connection each time you remove the end plates? Or do you prefer a flex line to the door with the flex line long enough to allow removal of the door? Response received: We do plan to break the conflats each time we remove the door. (8) Question received: Who is the manufacture of the Model 1620 Helium Refrigerator? Response received: Process Systems International is the manufacturer of model 1620 Helium Refrigerator. The following changes are made to the specifications: (1) Delete statement: "One of the ends shall have a 20" opening with a conductively cooled cover" and replace with the following: Both of the ends shall have a 20" opening with a conductively cooled cover. (2) Delete statement: "Inlet and outlet for shroud shall be 2.75" rotatable conflat and replace with the following: Inlet and outlet for shroud shall be 3.375" rotatable conflat. (3) Delete statement: "Shroud shall be wrapped with 10 layers of aluminized mylar and replace with the following: Shroud shall be wrapped with 10 layers of aluminized mylar with 10 layers of mylar covering hole close-outs and end plates. (4) Delete statement: "Finally shroud shall be designed to be compatible with the operating characteristics of existing model 1620 helium refrigerator" in it's entirety. (5) Delete statement: "In addition to the four (4) 8" penetration mentioned earlier, the shroud shall have 2 penetrations with conductively cooled cover plates" and replace with the following: In addition to the six (6) 8" penetrations mentioned earlier the shroud shall have three (3) 11" penetrations will conductively cooled cover plates. (6) Add the following statement: There shall be four penetrations (no cover plates) in bottom of shroud for supports. (7) Delete statement: "Cold shroud shall be fabricated from aluminum extrusions with 1" aluminum D-tube attached for cooling and replace with the following: Cold shroud shall be fabricated from aluminum extrusions with 1" aluminum D-tube attached to end plates for cooling. (8) Add the following statement: Vendor must supply for review prior to fabrication. Shroud and end panel interiors shall be painted black with the following specifications: Akzo Nobel, Expoxy enamel, curing solution is CA-118, Base is 463-3-8, and 595B-37038 Flat black. An additional evacuation port (1/2" VCR male) shall be placed on rear left side of shroud. Additional supply and return ports (1/2" VCR male) shall be located on lower portion of interior of shroud.
