- Description
- Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a contract for Tactical Tomahawk (Block IV) Penetrator Variant (TTPV). The anticipated contract will have a period of performance of approximately two years. Contract award is planned for December 2002. Its anticipated valued is $17M. This requirement will encompass missile design, design analysis, integration, manufacture of demonstration hardware, test and demonstration of a hard target penetrating variant of the Block IV missile. This effort will provide for the integration of a Government furnished penetrator warhead and Hard Target Smart Fuze (HTSF) into the Block IV missile. This will require structural modification of the forward and mid-body sections of the missile to accommodate the longer penetrator warhead. The changes to the forward and mid-body sections of the missile will also include modification of the baseline II fuel system. These changes will alter the missile?s center of gravity and, therefore, require modification of the guidance navigation computer. In addition, this effort includes the manufacture of three missiles for flight test and demonstration of the TTPV. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to Raytheon Company, Missile Systems Business Unit (RMS), P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734 ?1337. RMS is the sole designer and developer of the TT missile. In June of 1998, NAVAIR awarded a contract to RMS for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) of the Block IV missile. The TTPV will be a variant of the basic Block IV missile and it will share a significant portion of the basic Block IV missile design. It is essential that the TTPV integration effort be performed concurrently with the development of the Block IV missile in order to achieve the Defense Threat Reduction Agency requirement for completion of this program. Therefore, RMS is the only source capable of accomplishing this requirement in the required timeframe and without duplication of costs. *****
