- Description
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intend to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with Lippincott, Williams, & Wilkins, 530 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, to purchase reprints of the article "Metabolic Disorders in Pathogenesis of Nervous System Damage in HIV-Infected Drug Users" published in the Journal of AIDS (JAIDS). It is extremely important that the most current research on metabolic disorders in the pathogenesis of nervous system damage meeting sponsored by NIH, be disseminated to the widest audiences of clinicians and researchers. This can be achieved by publishing findings in professional scientific journals that deal with issues of complications related to AIDS. The Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, reviewed and accepted the proceedings of this unique meeting for publication as a special supplement issue. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 511120, Size Standard 500 employees is applicable to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PS-2002-055 may be submitted to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, Building RKL2, Suite 6042, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892-7902, Attention Ms. Cecilia Morales, Purchasing Agent. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
