Description

The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) has a requirement for engineering and technical services to satisfy modeling requirements in support of new and on-going warhead development projects. The USMC requires explosives modeling to explain the results of live explosive testing and to give insight into the performance of proposed explosive formulations before the mixtures are fabricated, loaded in weapon form, and tested. The modeling shall use a gas dynamics model to demonstrate the initial explosive blast and secondary combustion flows, and will be integrated with another government owned munitions effects model to assess the damage to structures. To meet operational requirements, a sensitivity analysis shall be performed to prescribe the explosive formulation and quantity of explosive required. MARCORSYSCOM intends to award a sole source contract to Centra Technology, Incorporated, 83 Cambridge Street, Suite 1A, Burlington, MA, 01803-4181. Currently, Centra has developed the only existing Gas Dynamics Tool Model and is therefore, the only contractor qualified and capable to fulfill the Government's modeling requirement within the required delivery period.
