- Description
- This project will consist of bridge replacement including embankment reconstruction, approach road realignment, parking lot, and retaining wall on 0.348 kilometers of roadway for N.E.E.D. Camp Bridge, in Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area, Shasta County, State of California. Estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000. Principal work items: lump sum contractor testing; removal of one bridge; 12,500 m3 unclassified borrow; 11,600 m3 embankment construction; 2,000 m3 waste; 150 m3 structure excavation; lump sum cofferdams; 680 m3 placed riprap class 4 (Government furnished); 80 m2 reinforced concrete retaining wall, various; 860 metric tons roadway aggregate, method 2; 340 metric tons minor hot asphalt concrete; 318 m3 structural concrete class A; 6 each precast, prestressed concrete structural members, CALTRANS standard bulb-tee 1850; 11,900 kg reinforcing steel; 35,400 kg epoxy coated reinforcing steel; 148 m steel bridge railing, various; 150 m Portland cement concrete curb, 375 mm depth; 55 m 150-mm waterline ductile iron; 5,500 m2 mulching, dry method; 2,500 hr flagger; along with associated surveying, staking, seeding and traffic control. THIS ACTION IS BEING OFFERED AS A COMPETITIVE 8(a) SOLICITATION TO FIRMS WITH A BONEFIDED PLACE OF BUSINESS IN A DISTRICT OFFICE WITHIN THE STATES OF CALIFORNIA, ARIZONA, OR NEVADA. PLANS AND SPECS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN BOTH CD?ROM AND PAPER VERSIONS. Tentative advertisement date is April 16, 2002. All bid forms, bid bonds, and other documents required for the bid submittal shall be submitted to FHWA in paper format. Electronic format for the bid submittal documents will not be allowed. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
