- NA The Principal Assistant responsible for Contracting, Military Traffic Management Cmd seeks Stevedoring Contractors for several ports within the United States to support urgent requirements and military contingency operations. Contractors will be responsib le for providing personnel and equipment for loading and discharging DOD cargo being transported within the Defense Transportation System and other related terminal operations/services. Due to a significant increase in operations, Stevedore Contractors ar e being sought through out the U.S. to ensure ability to respond to the military's needs. Interested Stevedore Contractors will receive Basic Ordering Agreements which lists the ports they have designated. Generally the requirements are short notice, less than 10 days to perform. Contactors will receive a solicitation for individual operation s in their areas, and will provide prices for the operation if they are available to perform at that time. These requirements will only be offered to Stevedore Contractors that have Basic Ordering Agreements; however, the Contractors are not bound to prov ide prices for any operation they are not interested in or are not available to perform. If you are interested in providing such services at any of the following ports, please respond as soon as possible. Some of the tasks involved (not inclusive) are loading ships, discharging ships, rigging and unrigging, opening and closing ships; shifting barges, lighters, scows, and carfloats; handling dunnage, lashing and securing aboard ships, slinging and unslinging of cargo, clerking and checking, barge and railcar loading and unloading, truck loading, handling hazardous cargo, unitizing loads, carpentry work, coopering and marking, and other related terminal services.
