Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase an AKTA Purifier 10, FRAC 950 Fraction Collector, Motor Valve PV-908, Motor Valve IV-908, Inlet Tubing Kit, Inlet Filter Assembly Complex and ENSFF 1 Ghz Unicorn Control unit w/display from Amersham BioSciences, 800 Centennial Avenue, Piscataway, NJ 08855. The following technical specifications are needed for the system: 1) The system shall have the ability to purify biomolecules including peptides, nucleic acids, and proteins from complex starting materials derived from cell lysates, tissue homogenates, recombinant protein expression systems and other sources. The system will be able to perform separations based on a variety of sample characteristics, such as molecular weight, net surface charge, hydrophobicity, while retaining biological activity. 2) The system shall have a P-903 two-pump system that can provide a flow rate range of 0.001 to 10 ml/min and a pressure range from 0-25 Mpa (3625psi). 3) The two-pump system shall contain two switch valves that allows for accurate, automatic buffer preparation called BufferPrep. 4) The system shall have a M-925 mixer that is a dynamic, single chamber mixer powered and controlled from the P-903 pump. The mixer has interchangeable mixing chambers of 0.6 and 2ml. 5) The system shall have a UV-900 monitor that can simultaneously monitor three different wavelengths in a range of 190-700nm. The UV monitor bandwidth is 4nm with a wavelength accuracy of plus or minus 2nm. The UV-900 monitor includes a 10mm flow cell. 6) The system shall have a pH/C-900 monitor that measures in-line conductivity, temperature and pH. The monitor allows for auto ranging between any two ionic-strength buffers with a conductivity range of 1mS/cm to 999mS/cm. The pH range is 0-14 with plus or minus 0.1 pH unit accuracy, temperature compensated. 7) The system shall include a seven port INV-907 injection valve with load, inject and wash positions. 8) The system shall include two PV-908 motorized valves to accommodate up to seven columns, plus one column bypass. 9) The system shall include an IV-908 motorized valve for buffer selection. One valve can accommodate up to eight buffers for automated selection by the P-903 pump. 10) The system shall include an eight port PV-908 fractionation valve for diversion of the sample to the fraction collector or waste. 11) The system shall have a Frac-950 fraction collector that allows fixed volume fractionation, time based fractionation or automatic peak fractionation. Peak fractionation can be based on peak detection using slope or level sensing. The Frac-950 can collect flow ranges from 0.001ml/min to 100ml/min. The Frac-950 collects up to 120 fractions in 18 mm diameter tubes and 8 fractions in 30 mm diameter tubes (Rack A). 12) The system controller and UNICORN software shall monitor two pumps, two motorized valves, a fraction collector, a dynamic gradient mixer, a UV monitor, an autosampler and a conductivity/pH monitor. The Institutes intends to purchase this equipment by other than full and open competition from Amersham Biosciences. To the best of the Government's knowledge they are the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. Interested vendors may identify, in writing, their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Officer prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, all responses received before, the closing date of this announcement, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-02-737 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10 days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is April 30, 2002. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing and may be FAXED to 301-480-4226. Quotations must be submitted in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 774C, Bethesda, Maryland 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun. FAX quotations must contain offerors names, address, telephone number and fax number. FAX quotations will only be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative.
