Description
THE NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER/AIRCRAFT DIVISION, LAKEHURST, NJ, CONTRACTS DEPARTMENT INTENDS TO PROCURE A POWDER COATING SPRAY BOOTH; NORDSON VERSA-COAT CONVEYOR BOOTH MODEL CM(OR EQUIVALENT). THE POWDER COATING SPRAY BOOTH SHALL BE A SELF-CONTAINED WORK ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING DUST COLLECTION, FILTERING AND EXHAUST APPARATUS, ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANEL, AND LIGHTING. SPECIFICALLY, THE UNIT WILL BE USED FOR THE APPLICATION OF THERMO-SET POWDERED PAINT COATING TO U.S. NAVY UNDERWATER MINES. THE MINES WILL BE PROCESSED IN SHORT-RUN BATCHES BY SUSPENDING THEM FROM A CRANE THROUGH A CRANE SLOT DESIGNED INTO THE BOOTH, WITH OPERATORS SPRAYING FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE MINES WHILE STANDING INSIDE THE BOOTH. DIMENSIONS OF THE BOOTH SHALL NOT EXCEED 12' WIDE X 12' HIGH X 10'8" DEEP. BOOTH SHALL OPERATE ON 460V, 10 AMP POWER AND SHALL EMPLOY A TWO(2) STAGE FILTRATION SYSTEM, WITH THE PRIMARY FILTERS REMOVING OVER-SPRAY FOR COLLECTION AND RE-USE AND THE SECONDARY FILTERS ELIMINATING PARTICULATES FROM THE EXHAUST. IN ADDITION TO OTHER RELEVANT CODES, THE BOOTH SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION BULLETIN #33 FOR SPRAY APPLICATIONS. INSTALLATION, START-UP AND TRAINING, AND SUBMISSION OF LOGISTICAL SUPPORT DATA, INCLUDING A UNIQUE NAVY MANUAL, WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED AS PART OF THE ORDER. THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL BE FULFILLED BY SUPPLYING "COMMERCIAL ITEMS" AS DEFINED IN SECTION 2.101 OF THE FEDERAL ACQUISITION REGULATION WHICH CAN BE LOCATED ON WEBSITE: http://farsite.hill.af.mil/". THE SOLICITATION WILL APPEAR ON THE NAVAIR HOMEPAGE LOCATED AT http://www.navair.navy.mil. SELECT "BUSINESS", THEN "DOING BUSINESS WITH US", AND THEN "OPEN SOLICITATIONS".
