Description
The Program Support Center Acquisitions Office has a requirement for the Office of Women's Health for the implementation of professional education and training materials developed as part of the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) Diethylstilbesterol (DES) Update. Multiple awards, within the simplified acquisitions threshold, are anticipated. The period of performance is 18 months from contract award. The DES Update materials recently developed, through the collaboration of five National Centers of Excellence in Women's Health (CoEs) faculty, for professional audiences (MDs, PAs, NPs, Nurse Midwives, RNs, Medical Educators, and students of these professions) focus on the latest research on health effects, clinical care, and other information for patients who took DES while pregnant, and for their children and grandchildren. Implementation activities may include hosting lectures or workshops on DES; implementing DES case studies in existing CoE curricula in a variety of institutions; promoting the use of DES self-study modules on the CDC website as a CME or CEU course; building curriculum activities around DES self-study modules in existing medical, nursing, PA or NP curricula; promoting DES awareness and education among providers and/or medical educators at appropriate state, regional and national meetings of clinicians; promoting DES awareness and education among clinicians and staff of managed care organizations; promoting and disseminating DES educational materials for consumers through CoE affiliated clinic(s) or other appropriate health channels. The Government intends to competitively solicit the 14 CoEs (Harvard University, University of Illinois - Chicago, Tulane University, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin - Madison, University of Puerto Rico, Magee Womens Hospital, MCP Hahnemann University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California - San Francisco, University of California - Los Angeles, University of Michigan, Boston University, and Indiana University) to implement the materials previously developed for the national DES Update to reach multiple audiences within the CoE Network, at the state level, regional level and National level. The National Centers for Excellence in Women's Health were designed to fill a critical need for the provision of five key components in the provision of state-of-the art, comprehensive health care for women, including the development of multi-disciplinary training and education agenda on women's health issues. Responsible parties with the capabilities required for this requirement including access to a wide variety of professional groups and contacts may provide a capability statement addressing their experience with similar projects. Responses are due within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Responses shall be reviewed solely for the purpose of determining whether to expand the Government's source list beyond the 14 CoEs. All responses shall be sent to Sophia S. Janus, at the address above, referencing 02T020081.
