Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates award of a sole source contract to the University of Pennsylvania, Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, 801 Blockley Hall, 423 Guardian Drive, Philadelphia, GA 19104-6021. The purpose of the contract is to assess the efficacy of screening mammography among women aged 40-49 by conducting a case-control study using the breast cancer cases and controls from the Women's Contraceptive and Reproductive Experiences (CARE) study. Note, this study was funded by the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute of Health. The period of performance is not to exceed 42 months; a cost reimbursement type contract is contemplated. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. However, all sources must meet the following absolute criteria prior to award consideration: Offeror must be one of the participating sites in the CARE study with demonstrated capacity to follow-up vital status of all CARE breast cancer cases ages 40 or older at diagnosis (from Atlanta, Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia). Offeror must have conducted a validation study in which the validity of self-reported mammography history provided by the breast cancer cases in the CARE study is compared to the validity of mammography history reported by the CARE controls. This validation study must have included a comparison of self-reported information with information obtained from the mammography facilities in which the CARE cases and controls received their mammograms. The offeror shall describe its knowledge of the sensitivity and specificity of self-reported mammography history from this validation study. All responsible sources meeting the above criteria may submit a capability statement to the Contracting Officer at CDC/PGO, 2920 Brandywine Road, Room 3713, Atlanta, GA 30341 on/before 3/28/02. Offerors are cautioned to include Solicitation No. 2002-N-00379 on all documentation submitted. The NAICS code is 54171. No telephone requests/inquiries will be accepted.
